Varsity Update from Coach Brock
Hello. I hope everyone had a relaxing break and was able to enjoy some down time. As it has been a while since our last report, I wanted to send out an update on our recent wrestling activity.. Over the break….
Our varsity team claimed the 2019 MillTown Duals Title by posting a 3-0 record on the day. During the event, senior Josh Cizmadia became our latest wrestler to reach the 100 win mark in his career. This is a huge accomplishment for our athletes considering the always tough and rigorous schedule that we follow year in and out.
Fred T. Foard Classic… Newton ,NC. Probably the toughest one day event in the southeast. Our group was pretty beaten up, but managed a 5th place finish and had several guys place very high. Josh Cizmadia turned in a solid performance in a tough overtime finals loss to place 2nd.
We competed in the 2019 Wildcat Duals at Lexington HS on Dec. 30-31. As we continue to be struggling with injuries, our team rallied by posting a two day record of 4-2 and making the championship dual against 14 time state champs Eastside, SC. Our guys wrestled tough but lost a tight match by a score of 38-27.
Jan. 4th… Pirate Duals at Porter Ridge HS, NC. Our group put it together and posted a solid 5-0 record in route to the team title. We had several new faces in our lineup, all of whom helped out tremendously over the course of the day.
Our team now stands at 13-4 on the season and will compete again this weekend as we travel to Johnson City, TN for the always tough Fannetti Richardson Classic at Science Hill High School.
As always… thanks for your support and we hope to see you at some of our home events this season.
